 Babies are born with a store of iron; however, this is used up by around 4-6 months of age. It is therefore essential that iron is obtained from the baby's diet. Vitamin C is also important to ensure the iron is absorbed.
 During and even after the weaning period, it can be difficult for babies to fulfil their nutritional requirements for iron and other key nutrients from the amount of food they consume.
 Feeding 500-600 ml of Progress each day from 6 months (a minimum 350 ml from 1 year) can help ensure babies receive the nutrients they need to assist their growth and development.
 Cows' milk contains very little iron and vitamins C & D, and the UK Department of Health and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland recommend that it should not be given as the main drink during the first year of life.
